New EP Available

Hello All,

It’s been a while since we’ve released anything new. About a year now actually. We are in the process of writing a new full length and will hopefully be recording in February or some other hellishly cold month when clapping hands hurts like crazy. But for the moment, to span the gap, we’ve released a 3 song EP.

It’s called You Gave it Your Best… Unfortunately That’s Not Saying Much. You can download it for free at our bandcamp site. Consider this a prologue to where we are headed and a departure from where we’ve been.

Show Tonight at El Rio

Hello all,

So, as you might have noticed, we’ve changed the site just a little. It’s still shitty, but it’s not as shitty. It has become apparent that we really need a graphic designer in the band. This is just unacceptable I’m afraid. Oh well. On to better news.

Tonight we will be playing at the El Rio in San Francisco (despite the fact that we are not a local… shhh, don’t tell anyone) with The Margins and Excited states. Starts at 8 and costs $5. Please come out if you can.

This will hopefully be updated more frequently seeing as real news is developing. Ohh… anticipation!

Brainwash on 10/23/09

Hello All,

Yet another infrequent post about the goings on in Camp SBBC.

On Friday, Oct. 23rd, we (oh yes, there will be a “we”) will be performing at the Brainwash Cafe (1122 Folsom St.) in San Francisco again. And once again, it will be with Everything is Fine and Summer of Glaciers. It’s questionable as to whether or not we deserve your attention, but these other folks most certainly do. They are amazing.

As usual, there is a theme. This evening will be the “There is No Place That’s Home” show. And we might be releasing the first “work” from the publishing arm of the book club (outside of the audiobook).

The show starts at 8 and it’s free. So come be cheap with us. Share a drink. Read some pretentious drivel. Listen to some awesome music while doing your laundry. See you there!

Compendium- Devil's Ruin Records Sampler

Devil’s Ruin just released a sampler record feature two songs from our last album and a ton of other music. It can be yours for the low low price of $1. Seriously, a buck. Why would you not buy it? You can purchase it here.

The New Album is Underway

Hello there,
Yes, as usually it’s been a while. But we have something to show for the absence this time. After playing a few shows and realizing that the old material can only be used so long before it’s already threadbare condition becomes terminal, it was realized that it was time to get to work. We’ve been long over due for a new album. At this point, it’s untitled. The music is different for sure, but still very SBBCish… whatever that means. The song we’ve posted here is called “Back Before a ‘Time Out’ Lasted Five to Ten Years.” Enjoy. More to come at some point.

Gloom Show on May 23rd at the House of Shields

The title kind of says it all, but for extra elucidation:

Show Tonight

Yes, I realize it’s a little last minute, but if you’ve been paying attention, we don’t update this much. Our bad. Anyhow, we will be playing at the Works Gallery (451 S. First St., San Jose) tonight, April 17th. Other bands on the bill at Summer of Glaciers (Yea!), Knaves all Three, Drowned in Audio, and Mike!. It costs $6 and starts at 7. We are on first, so don’t show up late. Tonight is the Doom Show-lite, by the way. It’s going to be loud and noisy. If you want to hear quirky banjo songs, this won’t be that. Tonight is about catharsis. Or something.

Ohh… it looks like (ahem)… shit

Yes, we know. But the sad fact of the matter is we just don’t have time to create a big boy website at the moment (nor, sadly the intelligence). So for the time being, this will have to do. Sorry about that. Don’t worry, we are amazingly ashamed at this sub par display of technical competence. It will be rectified forthwith… or at least some time this winter.

But the reason we’ve slapped together this monstrosity is to let you know that the Sad Bastard Book Club’s album comes out today. That’s right The Collected Short Stories of Carries Anne Crowe is now available. Please visit our friends at Devil’s Ruin Records for more details.

Okay, it’s late and to keep writing is a bad idea. But in the upcoming weeks we’ll have some real posts with, you know, information and stuff. So for now, good night.

xoxo, sbbc
